    The Challenge

    A multi-location organization operating hundreds of locations needed to provide different levels of data access across its analytics environment. Location managers required visibility into their own sites while network leadership needed access across the organization. However, permissions were managed manually. Analysts maintained access lists in Excel, copying and pasting user emails to grant or remove access. The process was time-consuming, difficult to maintain, and created risk that users could occasionally access data they were not authorized to view.

    Our Approach

    We redesigned the organization’s permissioning framework by implementing automated role-based access control. The company’s HR system was integrated with Microsoft Azure and connected to the Databricks analytics environment, allowing permissions to be assigned dynamically based on employee roles.

    The Result

    Manual access management was replaced with a secure, automated data access framework. Permissions were now managed through a single source of truth for employee roles, reducing operational overhead while ensuring users across hundreds of locations could access only the data relevant to their responsibilities.
