Building a Global Analytics Talent Pipeline
Redesigned hiring and onboarding for a global analytics organization, enabling faster hiring and standardized onboarding.
The Challenge
A global organization with 200+ analysts and data scientists across North America, Europe, and India faced growing challenges scaling its analytics workforce. Hiring relied on outdated PDF-based assessments that made it difficult to evaluate candidates’ coding ability and analytical thinking. At the same time, onboarding was conducted manually by managers, creating inconsistent learning experiences across regions and consuming significant leadership time. New analysts also struggled to work efficiently with large datasets containing hundreds of millions of rows, slowing productivity and increasing reliance on senior team members. Leadership needed a scalable framework to improve hiring, onboarding, and skill development across a rapidly growing analytics organization.
Our Approach
We redesigned the organization’s analytics hiring and onboarding pipeline to create a scalable global talent development framework. Key initiatives included: • Centralizing onboarding resources through an integrated internal wiki that provided a single access point for all learning materials across teams and regions • Modernizing the hiring process by implementing a proctored technical assessment platform capable of evaluating both coding ability and analytical thinking • Eliminating an interview round while improving the quality and consistency of candidate evaluation • Launching a continuous learning platform to help analysts build skills in advanced coding, business strategy, and marketing analytics • Introducing internal competitions to encourage engagement and collaboration across global teams
The Result
The new framework significantly improved the scalability of analytics hiring and development across the organization. Key outcomes included: • One interview round eliminated, accelerating the hiring process • ~6 hours of manager interview time saved per hire • Centralized onboarding resources accessible globally • Strong engagement in the analytics upskilling platform, with 50+ active participants • HR leadership exploring expansion of the technical assessment platform across additional departments By standardizing hiring and onboarding, the organization accelerated new hire productivity while strengthening the capabilities of its global analytics workforce.
